When your mom’s a serial monogamist they tend to come with the territory. They never seem to stick for very long but that’s little comfort when your new brother is going to be Chuck Bass. His reputation precedes him. Arrogant, rampant, intoxicated, hedonistic Chuck Bass. The guy owns a strip club for fuck’s sake! And now they were going to have to shack up under the same roof. Admittedly, the suite was also shared with twelve highly trained staff but still, it was an imposition.

Chuck’s mom left for a spa getaway two years ago and hasn’t been back since. ‘Self discovery’ she calls it. It’s fine because they were never what you’d call close. Chuck’s a man’s man; he knows how to screw women, how to charm them, how to wrap them round his little finger, but he’s never really liked or needed them so she was no great loss. Anyway, his dad’s happy enough fucking every cocktail waitress and nubile young hostess in town, so with time she gets mentioned less and less. Then both Basses are struck unexpectedly, unwelcomely and unshakably with a thing that feels a lot like love. Chuck craves then destroys his Queen B. Bart proposes to Lily in front of all the family gathered together at Christmas time. Chuck’s in Monaco.

Eric’s not the one who needs watching anymore. Not when Chuck’s around to get arrested for being drunk and disorderly (“Everyone drinks on their birthday”), or indecent exposure (“The cops interrupted a beautiful moment between Clarissa, Rebecca and I”), possession (“Weed! Don’t they have vice rings to bust or criminal overlords to interrogate? It’s persecution!”) or any of his ‘hobbies’. It’s kind of nice not to be the fucked up one for once. And it’s not like his mom or sister forget about him, they just have other things to worry about. He gets it, Lily has to organise the perfect wedding and Serena seems to have her own shit to deal with.

The lovely Serena’s not talking to him. It’s ludicrous really; all he did was make a little contribution to her body lotion, and it’s not like it’s not good for the skin! He wouldn’t care, it’s just that Nathaniel’s giving him the cold shoulder too ever since the whole Blair incident. She’s not returning his calls either and he’s not going to beg. A Bass never begs. But he’s finding that it’s not much fun coming up with nefarious schemes if you’ve got no one to applaud your brilliance. So that’s when he buys a new scarf.

Chuck buys him a scarf. Eric’s not quite sure what this means but he thinks it’s probably a nice gesture. A few days later he finds himself being invited to go shopping as apparently he urgently needs to be “less pedestrian”. Chuck demands that they take the limo. They buy a few bags worth of garish clothes that Eric will never never wear. He’s gay, but he’s not that gay.

The highlights have to go. Eric’s whole hair is a problem really. What self-respecting teenager has feathering at the back? And curtains on his forehead!? He needs be taught that retro doesn’t mean looking like an escaped boy band member from the Nineties. If he had hair like that maybe Chuck might have attempted suicide too.

Eric can tell Chuck stuff that he can't tell other people. He's kind of a moral vacuum so he doesn't judge when you say stuff that most people might find a bit fucked up. And he's unshockable, so when Eric tells him that he's been seeing someone ("is she hot?" "..he" "is he hot?") he doesn't react much at all, except to place a pack of condoms under his pillow and wink at him over the breakfast table. Maybe having a Chuck around might not be too bad after all.

Oz? Clocking Off? Queer As Folk UK for boldly going where no one had gone before? Good old Inspector Morse for making the template of how we do detective shows? Brass Eye for having the balls to do the paedophile "special" an make it hilarious?

Anyway that was procrastinaty fun fun fun and made me feel all cultured till I realised I was just talking about the old idiot box :( lol.

As promised, here is last night's episode of BBC's Heroes Unmasked. The first part is all about HRG and the Bennets (lots of stuff about The Glasses themselves and some nice talk with Jack Coleman.) Then the last part is a focus on a lot of the flying stunts they've done with Adrain Pasdar with exclusive footage, much of which is shirtless! Also I must give a special thanks to one stunts guy who describes how Adrian "(would) stand there, in basically just boxer-briefs" for the stunt. Thanks for that image from heaven :) Also, we get to see cute!cyber!Nathan who the producers made for their stunts. Why can't they make us all a Nathan?

Here is the link:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=VCUXJ8D5

Peter is 0-2.

Nathan hates the baby. When he looks at him he doesn’t see family. He doesn’t see his flesh and blood, his heart, his kin. No, Nathan sees a bright red lobster of an infant, one who has sunk his two fat pincers into all around him. His mother and his father do not see the lobster, they see a small baby boy, but Nathan is wise to its evil intent. Nathan knows that screaming crustaceans do not belong above ground, and he wishes that Peter Thomas Petrelli would return to the ocean where he belongs.

Nathan grows to think that Peter might not be a lobster after all, as they are quiet creatures and Peter is a loud, obnoxiously cloying child who cries all the time. No, Nathan decides that he is a whining dog. Not a cute one, like the chocolate Labrador he is not allowed to have in case it scares the baby, no Peter is a rabid street dog who barks nonsensically at anyone who tries to pet it. Dogs like this are dangerous and should be avoided lest they sink their teeth into you.

Peter cries loudest whenever Nathan holds him. His mother says that that’s not unusual, that babies cry a lot, that Peter is an emotional sort, that the world is all very strange and new, and yet Nathan can’t quite forgive the little dog-lobster for crying whenever he holds him. Nathan is used to his father being distant, his father is a very Busy and Important man, yet to be rejected by a baby is more than he can stomach. Nathan has always been taught the importance of being Strong and Brave and a Fortress (which he has trouble spelling) so to see this weak, bawling infant receive more affection than he gets is just not right. He wishes Peter would just disappear. If Nathan could summon a genie in a lamp, this would be his only wish. Nathan closes his eyes and whispers a prayer under his breath. Please let the baby go away. Please.

Peter is two and one quarter. He follows Nathan everywhere on his fat little legs. Except Peter can’t keep up, and then he cries, he always cries. Then Nathan will get shouted at for not looking after his brother and for letting him fall. Nathan tries to explain to Peter that he is a lobster and so he might find it easier to scuttle than to walk, but the little boy just looks up at him, confused.

Nathan takes to sitting on the highest shelf of their airing cupboard. His parents don’t comment on his sudden disappearing act; his mother tends to be out with her ladies and his father is usually far too busy talking with Peter’s nanny. Nathan sometimes wonders what they talk about as his dad doesn’t speak Polish and Brygida’s English is terrible. Anyway, if they did notice they would put it down to Nathan being boyish and wanting a den, rather than him trying to climb to places where Peter cannot reach him. Then Peter sniffs him out like a search-dog.

He starts to mount the shelves, and Nathan realises that he isn’t a lobster at all, or a dog. No, Peter is a monkey. A climbing monkey, making his way up towards Nathan. But that’s not right either, because monkeys can climb effortlessly unlike Peter whose arms let go of the shelf. Nathan sees his little figure fall to the ground with a thud that should have been louder. Really, it should have shaken the house then people would have come running to help, but Peter is too small to make much noise. Then there is no noise at all. He doesn’t cry. He should be crying. His eyes should be open, and he should be looking at Nathan and crying. That’s what he does for God’s sake! What use is the stupid little limp thing if he won’t cry now? Nathan has never wanted Peter to bawl at him more than he does in this moment. He scoops the little boy up and cradles him and Nathan realises that he isn’t a cat who has nine lives, or a worm that’ll grow another head, he’s just a frail little boy who can be broken so easily. And Nathan has broken him. For those long, drawn out seconds he thinks Peter might be dead, and in that gulf of horror he realises he does love him after all. It must have snuck up on him when he wasn’t looking.

Peter opens his beady hurt eyes and frowns up at him. Nathan? This time it’s Nathan who’s doing the crying. He should stop. Big boys don’t cry. Ever. But Peter doesn’t seem to mind as he hugs him and says there there and then ouch and what happened and we okay? Maybe he doesn’t have to be Strong and Brave and a Fortress around Peter. He looks at him, really looks, and he sees a pair of brown eyes just like his own staring back. Nathan thinks that maybe isn’t some rogue animal that snuck its way into their family. Maybe they belong together after all.

End.

Please leave any comments or suggestions as feedback! This is my first ever fic so any thoughts would be most welcome. I was trying to avoid being too sugary sentimental but I do love these boys and that probably escapes through.

Just watched this weeks Heroes Unmasked (BBC documentary series) and they had the cutest interview with Adrian Pasdar about his now infamous "Flying Man" escape scene. Apparently the stunt landing was painful so he hurt his feet (as well as falling a lot) hence Nathan's look of pain and hopping up and down. The director and AP decided between them that this was fairly realistic as Nathan wouldn't have "superpowered feet" so friction burns would be a must on landing :) The interview had a double cuteness factor as Adrian was wearing that much featured crazy hat/blue NASA jacket combo:

There are also some nice shirtless and pajama panted Nathan outakes *drool*. I'll upload the doc to Sendspace tomorrow but for now enjoy the Petrelli-tastic Episode 3 of the same series. It has a Milo montage set to SexyBack in a "serious documentary". What more do you need to know?

http://www.sendspace.com/file/dhrq41

So we've just had Homecoming here in England (I've already seen the whole series by nefarious internet methods) and the first thing that occurred to me was how many women there were in this point of the series compared to latterly. Eden, Niki/Jesica, Ma Petrelli, Heidi, Female FBI (name?) person, Matt's wife, Claire, Jackie, Mrs Bennet, Simone etc. Is it just me or does the series get increasingly male? This isn't something that I'm complaining about (who would complain about axing Simone!!), more just curious. To be honest I'm quite glad to see the back of a lot of those characters as a lot of them were tedious or lived out their purpose. The only women I'd say have worked are Claire, Mrs Bennet and Heidi (though both very underused) and the awesome Mrs Petrelli. Perhaps a mention should be given also to Eden who started out dull, got interesting, then promptly died. I wonder if the new female charcters we're getting in series 2 will be interesting, or just end up hogging screen time until they get offed mid-season? And was it that the storylines weren't good enough for the women characters en masse or are men just better in sci-fi/Tim Kring's writing?

Other thoughts. I can't believe how much my character prefernces changed over the course of the season. Nathan up till now pretty much sucks, so far in the narrative he's only done BadPolitician things and not even been in some episodes at all. Yet he absolutely becomes my favourite character. The people I'm watching it with haven't seen it before and so won't believe that Nathan rules. And Sylar. They also don't understand my hatred for the Sanders storyline. It's not that I hate any of the actors in it, they just desperately need some plot.

Sorry if this is a little dull and rambley, it's my first post so I need to get into the habit :)
